The XX Conference of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan was held

On August 14, the XX Conference of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan took place at the Culture Center for the Deaf and Deafblind.

The conference was attended by 80 delegates representing Tashkent city and regional branches of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan, as well as invited guests.

During the conference, the results of the Society’s activities over the past five years were reviewed. The discussion highlighted the work carried out under the leadership of Shodieva Guzal Uktamovna, aimed at developing the organization and expanding opportunities for people with hearing impairments.

A number of important initiatives have been implemented over the past period. A training program for sign language interpreters was opened in higher education institutions, and a monomenter was created where people with disabilities got the opportunity to undergo training and acquire new professional skills. In addition, courses were organized for sign language teachers aimed at improving their professional qualifications and communication with deaf and hard-of-hearing students of residential schools, along with several other key initiatives.

One of the key issues of the XX conference was the election of the President of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan.

Five candidates were nominated for the position of President: Shodieva Guzal, Ahlidinov Ma’mur, Isokova Maloxat, Oschepkov Oleg, and Kurbanov Azizbek.

The candidates presented their electoral programs, outlined their main priorities, and shared plans for the further development of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan for the next five years.

Following the candidates’ presentations, a secret ballot was held. According to the voting results, the votes were distributed as follows:

Isokova Maloxat — 31 votes; Kurbanov Azizbek — 21 votes; Shodieva Guzal — 20 votes; Ahlidinov Ma’mur — 6 votes; Oschepkov Oleg — 2 votes.

Based on the results of the secret ballot, Maloxat Isokova received the majority of votes — 31. She was elected as the President of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan for a five-year term.

Prior to being elected as President, Maloxat Isokova served as the Vice President of the Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan.

The election of the new leader became one of the key decisions of the XX conference, determining the future direction of the Society’s activities.
