About us

The Society of the Deaf of Uzbekistan (O’zbekiston karlar jamiyati) is a public association of people with hearing and speech impairments operating throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Society was founded in 1929 and today unites members through 14 regional branches across the country.

According to its charter, the main goal of the Society is to unite people with hearing and speech impairments, protect their civil, economic, social, and cultural rights, and promote their equal participation in the life of the state and society.

Among the Society’s tasks are expanding the rights and opportunities of people with hearing disabilities, developing inclusive education, promoting employment, increasing legal literacy, and implementing the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities into national practice.

The Society is registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Certificate No. 451 dated January 21, 2011). The current edition of the charter was approved by the XIX Kurultai on September 23, 2021.
